In a fresh political jolt ahead of 2027, Leke Abejide has resigned from the African Democratic Congress, citing internal turmoil and uncertainty within the party.
The lawmaker representing Yagba Federal Constituency accused unnamed forces of “hijacking” the party structure, warning that lingering legal disputes posed a serious threat to his political future.
Abejide said his decision followed careful consideration, stressing that the protracted crisis and courtroom battles within the ADC had made it difficult to pursue his ambitions on a stable platform.
The defection signals widening cracks within the party as the race toward the 2027 general elections gathers momentum, with analysts predicting more realignments in the coming months.
