The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State has unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, setting the tone for early political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
The endorsement came on Thursday during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting in Damaturu, following a motion moved by Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan and seconded by the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Chiroma Buba Mashio. The motion received overwhelming backing from party leaders and stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Mai Mala Buni said the state has significantly benefited from its alignment with the ruling party at the centre since 2015, citing gains in reconstruction and recovery efforts.
“It is gratifying that our alignment with the national government has brought tangible benefits that have aided our rebuilding process and improved the lives of our people,” Buni stated, urging continued support for the APC and President Tinubu.
He also praised the political maturity in the state, noting that despite differing views, Yobe has maintained a culture of peaceful politics—echoing the legacy of “Politics without Bitterness” championed by late statesman Waziri Ibrahim.
The governor further expressed gratitude to residents for their resilience and to security operatives for their sacrifices in restoring relative peace to the state.
With this endorsement, Yobe joins the growing list of political blocs positioning early in support of Tinubu’s potential re-election bid, signaling the start of what promises to be a defining political contest.
