……Radda urges communities to protect peace, assess governments by performance
The Darika Sect in Katsina State has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dikko Umaru Radda ahead of the 2027 elections, pledging continued support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The endorsement was led by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Darika Sect, Malam Mahi Bello, on Thursday at the Ameera Events Centre, Katsina, during a special prayer organised in support of the Tinubu/Radda political agenda.
The programme was organised by the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation and the Maituraka Foundation, which also distributed financial empowerment support to 500 women.
Responding, Governor Radda thanked Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation and the Maituraka Foundation for organising the programme and supporting members of the community.
Governor Radda described leadership as a trust entrusted to elected leaders by the people, stressing that those given the responsibility of governance must remain conscious of the confidence reposed in them.
He recalled that he received 859,892 votes in the 2023 governorship election, noting that many of the votes were cast in support of the APC as a political platform.
“Leadership is a trust. When people entrust you with their votes, you must understand that they have given you a responsibility to serve them and protect the confidence they have placed in you,” Governor Radda said.
The Governor said his administration would continue to present its record to the people for assessment, particularly its campaign promises and the progress made in fulfilling them.
He urged citizens to assess governments based on their programmes, projects and measurable impact rather than political sentiments.
Governor Radda also acknowledged the support of the Federal Government under President Tinubu, noting that Katsina State had benefited from collaboration with the Federal Government in the implementation of development programmes.
He urged members of the community to remain good ambassadors of their communities and the state, while stressing the importance of responsible citizenship.
The Governor further called for greater vigilance and cooperation with security agencies, noting that useful information required to tackle insecurity often comes from within communities.
“Most of the information needed to address insecurity comes from within our communities. We must therefore be vigilant, support the security agencies and provide them with timely information,” he said.
Governor Radda called for continued prayers for peace and stability in Katsina State, stressing that sustained peace remained essential for development.
He appreciated the foundations for their support and urged beneficiaries of government and private-sector empowerment programmes to use the opportunities responsibly to improve their livelihoods.
Earlier, former Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, said the issues raised by previous speakers had addressed many of the points he intended to make.
Masari urged the people to begin planning for the future from the present, particularly encouraging scholars, community leaders and people of good character to participate actively in politics.
He said the involvement of credible scholars and community leaders in politics could contribute to producing responsible leadership and improving governance.
Masari prayed for the emergence of leaders who would build on the achievements of previous administrations and accomplish what earlier governments could not.
He also noted that many leaders occupying political positions today emerged from the activities and contributions of previous generations, stressing the importance of continuity in producing capable leaders.
Also speaking, Sheikh Nasiru Dahiru Usman Bauchi Leader of the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation commended Governor Radda for his support to the community and for attending its Maulud gathering.
He appreciated the Governor’s attention to education, youth development and empowerment, particularly the scholarship programme supporting Qur’anic memorisers to pursue health-related courses.
Sheikh Nasiru also commended the administration’s empowerment initiatives and urged beneficiaries to make effective use of the opportunities provided to improve their livelihoods.
He appreciated the Maituraka Foundation for empowering 500 women, describing the intervention as an opportunity for beneficiaries to establish businesses and improve their economic wellbeing.
Sheikh Nasiru assured the Katsina State Government of the community’s continued support and cooperation.
On his part, Chairman of the Maituraka Foundation, Abdulaziz Maituraka, reaffirmed the Foundation’s partnership with the Katsina State Government and pledged its continued support for the APC.
Maituraka said the Foundation remained committed to initiatives that directly benefit women, youths and other members of the community.
“We assure the Katsina State Government of our total support. This Foundation stands with the government and will continue to support initiatives that improve the lives of our people,” he said.
He appreciated former Governor Aminu Bello Masari for his guidance and support over the years.
Maituraka also commended Governor Radda for his commitment and determination in leading Katsina State and pursuing development across the state.
The APC Deputy Chairman in Katsina State, Hon. Bala Abu Musawa, appreciated the Maituraka Foundation and members of the community for organising the gathering.
He highlighted the role of the APC in the political development of Katsina State and commended party members and stakeholders for their contributions to the growth of the party.
The event was attended by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Chairman of Katsina Local Government, Hon. Isah Miqdad Ad Saude; Chairman, Katsina State APC Stakeholders, Alhaji Salisu Mamman Continental; members of the Katsina State Executive Council; and other senior government officials.
