Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu has observed that a safe and sustainable future depends on both security and a healthy environment, as engaging youths in meaningful activities such as tree planting builds a sense of responsibility, ownership, and patriotism.

He made the observation Friday while receiving a donation of 1000 seedlings of different varieties to his Command for distribution and planting in schools, public spaces, and police facilities across the state by the Bauchi Forestry Department of the Environment Ministry, presented by its director, Alh. Dauda on behalf of the commissioner.

The event was part of activities marking the International Youth Day 2026, by the Bauchi State Police Command on Day 2 of the commemoration, when the command initiated a mass tree planting exercise across Bauchi metropolis, with support from the forestry department of the State Ministry of Environment.

The initiative was held under the Command’s Youth Engagement Campaign themed “My Future is Greater than Political and Digital Thuggery”. The campaign is designed to promote peace, environmental responsibility, and discourage youths from involvement in political violence, thuggery, and the spread of misinformation online.

A statement by the command’s police public relations officer, SP Nafi’u Habib said that the commissioner appreciated the Bauchi State Forestry Department for the donation of 1,000 seedlings and for partnership to promote environmental sustainability.

CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu therefore urged youths across Bauchi state to take advantage of the campaign to become ambassadors of peace, responsible digital citizenship, and environmental protection.

He explained that the theme of the event was deliberately chosen to engage the youth in rejecting violence and the manipulation of social media for destructive purposes, emphasizing that the youth energy should be channeled towards building the state, protecting the environment, and securing a better societal tomorrow.

The Bauchi State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to community policing, youth empowerment, and strategic partnerships that foster peace, security, and sustainable development across the State.

Also speaking, representatives of youth groups and students who participated in the exercise commended the Police Command for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful in redirecting youth energy toward positive development.
