The Nigeria Police Force has launched a sweeping internal probe, with no fewer than 167 senior officers facing the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) over alleged misconduct and breaches of professional standards.
The high-level disciplinary exercise, currently underway at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, targets officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above, signaling a bold move to enforce accountability within the ranks.
Authorities say the committee is meticulously reviewing each case to ensure fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to existing laws, with final recommendations to be forwarded to the Police Service Commission.
Reaffirming the Force’s zero-tolerance stance, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, warned that any officer found guilty will face the full weight of due process.
“This is about restoring discipline, integrity, and public trust,” the police chief emphasized, describing the proceedings as part of broader reforms aimed at strengthening internal control and ethical conduct.
The development marks one of the most significant internal accountability drives in recent times, as the Force moves to rebuild confidence and reinforce professionalism across its operations.
