The Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja, has fixed June 9, 2026, for judgment in the high-stakes fraud trial of former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman.
Presiding judge, James Omotosho, set the date after both defence and prosecution adopted their final written addresses in the case.
Mamman is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 12-count charge bordering on conspiracy and money laundering involving a staggering ₦33.8 billion.
During proceedings, defence counsel Femi Atteh (SAN) told the court that all necessary filings had been completed, urging the court to discharge and acquit his client based on the submissions.
But prosecution counsel Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN) fired back, insisting the evidence was overwhelming. He told the court that funds were traced from a government account to a Bureau de Change, with testimonies alleging cash deliveries to the defendant’s residence.
“The evidence before the court is clear,” Oyedepo argued, urging the judge to dismiss the defence’s claims and convict Mamman on all counts.
With both sides closing arguments, all eyes now turn to June 9, when the court will deliver a verdict that could mark a decisive moment in one of Nigeria’s most closely watched corruption trials.
