The Zuru Emirate Council has clarified the circumstances surrounding the dissolution of the National Executive Committee of the Zuru Emirate Development Society (ZEDS), saying the decision was based on the expiration of the committee’s tenure.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Friday, October 2, 2026, by the Council Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Yahaya Marafa.
According to the Council, the dissolved executive members had been serving in an acting capacity since 2022, and their tenure had therefore elapsed.
The Council stressed that the dissolution was not intended to discredit or diminish the contributions of the outgoing members, describing them as “honourable gentlemen” who voluntarily offered their time and service for the development of the emirate.
The clarification, the Council said, was necessary to prevent misinterpretation of the decision and ensure that the circumstances surrounding the leadership change were properly understood.
The Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami Gomo III, expressed appreciation to the outgoing executives for their sacrifices, dedication and commitment throughout their period of service.
The Emir prayed for Allah to reward them for their contributions and wished them continued guidance and success in their future endeavours.
He also appealed to the outgoing members to extend their support and cooperation to the newly constituted executive committee, stressing the importance of collective efforts in promoting unity, stability and sustainable development across the Zuru Emirate.
The Council reaffirmed the importance of cooperation among stakeholders in strengthening community institutions and advancing the interests of the emirate.
