Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have arrested a youth leader in Shakon Village, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, over alleged involvement in cattle rustling.
The suspect, identified as Joshua Ali, was taken into custody at about 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2026, by troops of Sector 8, Sub-Sector 81, Operation SAFE HAVEN.
A military security source told Zagazola Makama that Ali was arrested following allegations linking him to cattle rustling activities reported around Barkin Ladi Local Government Area on August 11.
The arrest has triggered further investigation as security authorities seek to establish the suspect’s exact role in the incident and determine whether he acted alone or in collaboration with others.
Ali remains in military custody and is currently undergoing interrogation, while investigators work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the alleged cattle rustling operation.
Security authorities are expected to take appropriate action after the investigation is concluded, depending on the findings.
The arrest comes as security forces intensify operations across Plateau State to curb criminal activities and strengthen security in vulnerable communities.
