Sen. Aliyu Wamakko and Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, has described the newly turbaned Dallatun Sokoto, Alhaji Murtala Abdulkadir Dan Iya, as a man of proven integrity and selfless service.
Wamakko stated this in a special congratulatory message to Alhaji Dan Iya following his historic installation as the Dallatun Sokoto on Sunday by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III.
The new Dallatun Sokoto was turbaned along with twelve other eminent personalities as part of the activities lined up to commemorate the epochal 20th anniversary of the Sultan on the exalted throne of his forebears.
The colourful turbaning ceremony, which took place at the Sultan’s Palace, Sokoto, attracted dignitaries from across the country and marked a significant highlight of the anniversary celebrations, which also featured the unveiling of a book on Sheikh Usman Danfodiyo and humanitarian interventions for hospital patients and inmates.
According to Wamakko, the prestigious appointment is well-deserved and a clear testament to Dan Iya’s immense contributions, unwavering dedication and commitment to the development of the Sokoto Caliphate and Sokoto State at large.
He noted that the title comes with greater responsibility and a sacred duty to continue to serve the people and uphold the noble legacies of Sheikh Usman Danfodiyo.
The former Governor prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the new Dallatun Sokoto increased wisdom, strength, good health and the ability to discharge his responsibilities with utmost fairness, honesty and dedication.
