Wajari Community In Gombe Benefits from CBN Staff’s CSR Health Intervention

Staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Gombe Branch, have renovated the Primary Health Care Centre in Wajari Community, Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

According to a statement signed by information officer Yamaltu Deba local government area Comrade Babangida Umar Deba stated that the renovated facility was officially commissioned at a ceremony attended by community leaders, government representatives and officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Chairman of Yamaltu Deba Local Government Council, Alhaji Mohammed D. Jalo, who represented the Chairman, Alhaji Yunusa Yakubu, commended the CBN staff for selecting the Wajari Community for the intervention.

He described the gesture as a demonstration of compassion and commitment to improving the wellbeing of host communities, expressing appreciation to the staff and praying for abundant blessings for their contribution.

Also speaking, the member representing Deba Constituency in the Gombe State House of Assembly, Alhaji Mohammed Kabiru Kuri, called on the people of Wajari to take ownership of the renovated facility and ensure that it is preserved for the benefit of present and future generations.

The District Head of Wajari, and Wambai of Deba, expressed gratitude to the CBN staff for the intervention, describing the renovation as a valuable contribution to the health and welfare of the community.

He appealed for more development interventions to be extended to Wajari and surrounding communities.

In an interview after the ceremony, the Councillor representing Wajari Ward Malam Musa Hassan Wajari, said the health facility had been vandalised for several years without receiving the needed attention despite repeated reports.

He attributed the restoration of the facility to the intervention by the CBN staff and urged residents to protect the centre from vandalism, stressing that the community had suffered for a long time due to the condition of the facility.

Speaking on the initiative, the CBN Branch Comptroller, Gombe, Alhaji Yunusa Buba Mubi, explained that the renovation reflects the culture of CBN staff who voluntarily contribute from their personal earnings to support host communities through Corporate Social Responsibility.

According to him, the gesture is also a way of appreciating communities for providing a peaceful and conducive environment for CBN staff to carry out their duties.

He urged the people of Wajari to take ownership of the renovated facility, ensure its proper maintenance and make effective use of the healthcare services provided.

The ceremony ended with expressions of appreciation from members of the community, who prayed for continued success and blessings for the CBN staff and all those who contributed to the renovation of the Primary Health Care Centre.
