VC Commissions NUYOSS Secretariat, Urges Students to Prioritize Academics

In a significant step towards student development, the Vice-Chancellor of Yobe State University, Prof. Mala Mohammed Daura, officially commissioned the newly furnished Secretariat for the National Union of Yobe State Students (NUYOSS), Yobe State University chapter, on October 7, 2024.

Addressing the students during the event, Prof. Daura stressed the importance of prioritizing academics, emphasizing that political involvement should not come at the cost of their primary responsibility—education.

He called on students to remain dedicated to their studies while playing constructive roles in university politics.

Outgoing NUYOSS President, Comr. Mohammed Ali, expressed gratitude to the university management for creating a conducive space for the union’s activities.

Under his leadership, NUYOSS provided food palliatives for 3,000 students, support for victims of a girls’ hostel fire, and facilitated free registration for over 400 new students.

In recognition of his unwavering support for the union, Prof. Daura was awarded by NUYOSS.

The event was attended by key university officials, including Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Sani Isa, and Sub-Dean, Dr. Yakaka Abubakar.
