Troops have rescued injured commuters following a late-night attack by armed men along the Kachia–Nasarawa road in Kaduna State.
According to security sources, the incident occurred around 12:01 a.m. on April 30 when a white J5 vehicle carrying two passengers and 35 bags of locust beans was ambushed by unidentified gunmen.
Swift response by troops of Nigerian Army Sector 1, who were on routine patrol in the area, forced the attackers to flee upon sighting the advancing soldiers.
The injured driver and passengers were immediately rescued and evacuated to General Hospital Idon in Kachia Local Government Area, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
Security officials confirmed that troops have since intensified patrols and surveillance along the axis to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of commuters.
The incident highlights ongoing security challenges on key transit routes, even as military operations continue to keep pressure on criminal elements across the region.
