Troops, NDLEA Bust Suspected Drug Ring in Katsina, Arrest Six

Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested six suspected drug peddlers during a joint raid operation in Katsina State.

Security sources disclosed that the operation was carried out around 5:30 p.m. on May 9, 2026, by troops of 17 Brigade operating from the Forward Operating Base in Malumfashi.

The joint security team reportedly stormed Kauyan Dawo community in Malumfashi Local Government Area following credible intelligence on suspected drug trafficking activities within the area.

According to the sources, six suspects believed to be involved in the sale and distribution of illicit substances were apprehended during the operation.

Recovered items included 82.5 grams of cannabis sativa, 15.7 grams of Exol-5, and 1.8 grams of D5.

Military authorities confirmed that the suspects and seized substances had been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The authorities added that the raid forms part of intensified efforts to combat drug abuse and dismantle criminal networks fueling insecurity across communities in Katsina State.
