In a swift, intelligence-led operation, Nigerian Army troops under Operation Golden Peace apprehended two suspected ammunition couriers in Kwari Biba, nestled within the Yankari Game Reserve, Bauchi State.
The operation, executed at 9:00 p.m. on December 18, led to the arrest of Maikudi Danweri, 62, and Abubakar Hamza, 26. Troops recovered 204 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a motorcycle, and N10,000 cash from the duo.
Sources revealed that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to stem the flow of illegal arms in the region, which has been fueling insecurity and criminal activities. The suspects, along with the recovered items, are in custody for further investigation.
This marks a significant stride in curbing arms proliferation in Bauchi State.
