The Katsina State Police Command has arrested four suspects over alleged railway infrastructure vandalism after operatives intercepted a vehicle transporting 70 railway sleepers concealed beneath bags of animal feed.

The suspects were arrested at about 12:30 a.m. on October 11, 2026, during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Kurfi–Tsanni Village Road in Katsina State.

According to a police statement issued on Sunday, October 25, the operatives intercepted a white J5 vehicle with registration number BAU 821 ZY, driven by 25-year-old Anas Abdullahi, with three other men on board.

The other suspects were identified as Nasir Nuhu, Salisu Yusuf and Nuru Bala.

A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered 70 railway sleepers hidden behind 17 bags of animal feed, which police said were being used to conceal the suspected stolen items.

During preliminary investigations, one of the suspects, Nasir Nuhu, reportedly confessed to receiving the items from a man identified as Anas Moh’d, said to be from Bauchi State and currently at large.

The police said the railway sleepers were allegedly intended for delivery to another individual, Umar Bashir, in Katsina.

He urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information that could assist security operatives in identifying criminals, recovering stolen property and preventing further damage to public infrastructure.
