Troops of the Nigerian Army have recorded a major battlefield success after eliminating several Boko Haram fighters and destroying their hideout in Borno State.
The operation, carried out by the 21 Special Armoured Brigade in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and Hybrid Forces, took place in the Bula Daloye axis of Bama Local Government Area.
Security sources revealed that the troops, during a clearance mission on April 11, came under attack as insurgents opened fire upon sighting the advancing forces.
The troops, however, responded with superior firepower, overwhelming the terrorists in a fierce gun battle.
Several insurgents were neutralised in the encounter, while others fled with injuries into surrounding areas.
Following the successful assault, troops razed the terrorists’ camp and destroyed key logistics and life-support structures, dealing a significant blow to their operational capacity.
The operation is part of sustained military efforts to dismantle terrorist strongholds and restore lasting peace across the North-East.
