A prominent advocate for good governance and national development, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has called on political appointees of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly those from Northern Nigeria, to take the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda beyond Abuja and directly to the grassroots.
Waiya, Co-Convener of the Nigeria Forward Project, made the call in a statement issued on Thursday, October 8, 2026, stressing that government appointees have a responsibility to communicate the administration’s policies, reforms and achievements to ordinary Nigerians in a language they can understand.
His call followed remarks by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, who urged ministers, special advisers, chairmen and chief executive officers of federal government agencies to improve the communication of the administration’s achievements and impact to Nigerians.
According to Waiya, the message is particularly important as Nigeria moves towards the 2027 general elections.
He said the ongoing mobilisation for President Tinubu’s re-election should not be limited to political rallies, but should provide an opportunity for government representatives to explain the administration’s policies and demonstrate their impact on the lives of citizens.
“Those appointed by President Tinubu, especially from the North, should be strategically positioned to communicate the positive reforms of the Tinubu-led administration, present measurable achievements and demonstrate how government policies are creating opportunities, strengthening institutions, improving infrastructure and repositioning the Nigerian economy,” he said.
Waiya urged Northern appointees to take the Renewed Hope message to markets, farms, businesses, universities, local communities and homes, insisting that effective communication must begin where ordinary Nigerians live and work.
He maintained that the aspirations and concerns of citizens should form the foundation of the administration’s grassroots engagement ahead of 2027.
“The 2027 elections will ultimately belong to Nigerians. They will judge the administration by what they have seen, experienced and understood,” he said.
The Nigeria Forward Project Co-Convener further advised the appointees not merely to campaign for continuity, but to explain why continuity matters, defend the administration’s record with verifiable evidence and communicate its future vision with confidence.
He said the Renewed Hope Agenda should be presented not merely as a government slogan but as a practical programme whose impact Nigerians can understand and assess.
Waiya therefore urged federal appointees to intensify grassroots engagement, listen to citizens and clearly communicate the administration’s achievements and ongoing reforms.
He concluded:
“Now is the time to take the Renewed Hope message to the people. Let the story be told. Let the achievements speak. Let the vision be explained, and let Nigerians decide whether the journey deserves another mandate.”
