In a swift move to rejig his economic team, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, easing out Finance Minister Wale Edun and Housing Minister Ahmed Musa Dangiwa from the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
Announcing the shake-up, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, said the changes are aimed at boosting synergy and delivering stronger economic results under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
In a key highlight, Taiwo Oyedele has been elevated to take over as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, replacing Edun. Meanwhile, Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as the new ministerial nominee for Housing and Urban Development.
The directive mandates all handover processes to be completed by April 23, signaling an immediate transition in the nation’s economic and housing leadership.
Citing constitutional backing, the presidency emphasized that the reshuffle falls within executive powers, while assuring Nigerians that further “reinvigoration” of the cabinet remains ongoing.
The President also commended the outgoing ministers for their service, even as fresh expectations mount on the new appointees to steer the economy toward stability and growth.
