President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared Yobe State one of the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) safest political strongholds, attributing the party’s stability and growing influence in the state to the leadership and political strategy of Governor Mai Mala Buni.
Speaking during a meeting with Governor Buni and the APC governorship candidate, Baba Malam Wali, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu praised the peaceful political atmosphere in Yobe ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing it as a model worthy of emulation.
The President applauded the successful conduct of the APC governorship primary, saying the transparent process reflected the unity and maturity of the party in the state.
Tinubu reserved special praise for Governor Buni, describing him as one of the APC’s most dependable political tacticians whose experience and strategic leadership have continued to strengthen the ruling party.
“With Governor Buni at the helm, I have no doubt that Yobe will remain firmly in the APC. He is a valuable asset whose political wisdom has consistently contributed to our party’s success,” the President said.
Turning to the party’s governorship candidate, Baba Malam Wali, Tinubu expressed confidence that the former bureaucrat possesses the experience and capacity to sustain Yobe’s development trajectory.
He said Wali’s long years in public service had adequately prepared him to build on the achievements recorded under the Buni administration, particularly in education, healthcare, road infrastructure, agriculture and youth empowerment.
The President urged the APC candidate to consolidate the gains already made and ensure that governance remains focused on improving the lives of the people.
Governor Buni, meanwhile, described Wali as a tested administrator who understands the workings of government and would seamlessly continue the state’s development agenda.
“He has been part of the system for many years. There will be continuity from day one because he understands the vision and the direction of our administration,” Buni said.
The governor also thanked President Tinubu for the Federal Government’s unwavering support to Yobe State, noting that several interventions by the Tinubu administration have accelerated development and improved the welfare of residents.
The meeting reinforced the APC’s determination to retain control of Yobe in the 2027 elections while showcasing the party’s confidence in its succession plan for the state.
