One of those minds is Professor Nasiru Bello Kadandani, whose remarkable academic journey has now earned him the prestigious rank of Professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the Federal University of Transportation (FUT), Daura.
The university’s management recently ratified his promotion, effective from 2025, marking a defining moment in the career of an engineer whose work has quietly influenced teaching, research and technological development for decades.

Hailing from Kadandani in Katsina State, Prof. Kadandani has built a career anchored on academic excellence, global exposure and an unwavering commitment to developing engineering solutions for national growth.
His educational journey began at Bayero University, Kano, where he obtained both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering before advancing to the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom, where he earned a Doctorate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
Rather than resting on his academic credentials, the professor continued to sharpen his expertise through specialised professional certifications and international training programmes spanning Europe, Asia and Africa.
Today, his profile reflects the qualities increasingly demanded in a rapidly changing technological world—technical mastery, research excellence and visionary leadership.
Throughout his academic career, Prof. Kadandani has emerged as one of Nigeria’s respected contributors to engineering research. He has secured several competitive research grants and authored more than 60 peer-reviewed scholarly papers published in reputable international journals and conference proceedings.
His research has addressed critical issues in electrical engineering, power systems, emerging technologies and transportation infrastructure, areas considered essential to Nigeria’s industrial and economic transformation.
His professional standing extends beyond academia. He is a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), an active member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the globally respected Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

One of the defining features of Prof. Kadandani’s career has been his relentless pursuit of knowledge beyond Nigeria’s borders.
His international exposure includes advanced training on Wind Turbine Technology and Applications in Chennai, India, where he studied renewable energy systems capable of addressing future electricity demands.
In Nigeria, he participated in the Training of Master Trainers in Entrepreneurship Education, helping to integrate innovation and enterprise into engineering education.
His passion for educational excellence also took him to Newcastle in the United Kingdom for a specialised workshop on modern teaching methods in higher education, followed by participation in an international seminar on AC and DC Power Transmission in Coventry.
Recognising the growing importance of intelligent transport systems, he attended the International Seminar on Rail Transit Intelligent Control Systems in Suzhou, China, in 2025, where experts explored next-generation railway technologies that are increasingly shaping modern economies.
The same year, he completed advanced training in Technology Transfer and Commercialisation, reinforcing his commitment to ensuring that academic research translates into practical solutions capable of driving economic growth.
Beyond lecture halls and laboratories, Prof. Kadandani has played an important role in strengthening Nigeria’s digital capacity.
As a Subject Matter Expert for the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), Abuja, he trained participants from universities, polytechnics and colleges of education across the country in Digital Skills, Cybersecurity and Emerging Technologies (DiSCET).
His contribution has equipped countless educators and professionals with knowledge essential for navigating the digital age, particularly as transportation systems increasingly rely on artificial intelligence, automation, cybersecurity and smart infrastructure.
His influence also extends beyond his home institution. He serves as a Visiting Professor at the Federal University Dutsin-Ma and contributes to global scholarship by reviewing manuscripts for numerous national and international journals and conferences.
Within the Federal University of Transportation, Daura, Prof. Kadandani occupies several strategic leadership positions. He currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Transportation Engineering, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, while chairing several key university committees responsible for academic development and institutional growth.
These responsibilities place him at the centre of one of Nigeria’s most specialised universities, established to produce highly skilled manpower for the nation’s transportation sector.
