The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the State Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Barma Shetiman, for his unwavering support and encouragement.
This appreciation follows the safe return of Team Yobe from Asaba, Delta State, where they participated in the 8th edition of the National Youth Games.
In a statement, the Vice President, Comrade Ahmed K. Amshi, highlighted that the successful participation of Team Yobe in the festival has been a significant achievement. The association is now looking forward to the National Sports Festival scheduled for January 2025.
SWAN North East Zone, particularly the Yobe State chapter, would greatly appreciate the opportunity to review the recently concluded 8th edition of the National Youth Games. This review aims to provide constructive feedback for the upcoming National Sports Festival, ensuring that the state continues to excel in national events.
“I will continue to appreciate the support and encouragement we received from the Sports Ministry under your leadership,” said the SWAN Vice President, North East. “Team Yobe’s new record at the sports outing is commendable, and we urge for even better performances in future national events.”
On a personal note, the Vice President expressed his belief that without the Commissioner’s intervention, the opportunity to participate in the journey to Asaba, Delta State, would not have been possible. “We will always capitalize on such rare opportunities going forward,” he added.
“Once again, I appreciate your support and help in enabling me to attend the National Youth Games, Sir,” the Vice President concluded.
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, the Yobe Chapter, and the North East Zone remain committed to promoting sports development in the state and look forward to continued collaboration with the Sports Ministry and the State Sports Council.
