The Managing Director of the Sokoto-Rima River Basin Development Authority (SRRBDA), Alhaji Abubakar Malam, has commended Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, for what he described as a people-focused administration anchored on development, accountability and inclusive governance.
Abubakar Malam spoke on Friday, September 12, 2026, when he received the Kebbi State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, alongside members of the governor’s media team, who paid him a courtesy visit at his office.
The SRRBDA Managing Director described Governor Idris as a visionary, charismatic and team-oriented leader whose administration, according to him, has prioritised programmes and policies designed to improve the welfare of citizens across the state.
He said the governor had demonstrated a strong commitment to transforming Kebbi through investments in critical sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security and workers’ welfare.
Malam particularly cited the expansion and improvement of road networks, recruitment of thousands of teachers and healthcare personnel, support for farmers through agricultural inputs and irrigation facilities, as well as measures aimed at strengthening security across the state.
He also commended the administration for implementing the N75,000 minimum wage and introducing empowerment initiatives targeting women, youths and vulnerable members of society.
According to him, the governor’s leadership style has been defined by a commitment to service and a desire to positively impact the lives of ordinary citizens.
“Governor Nasir Idris is a leader with vision, a charismatic leader whose life is centred around helping people,” he said, while describing the governor as an honest, transparent and principled politician who remains committed to doing what is right.
The SRRBDA boss further praised Governor Idris for his ability to build and sustain a strong team, saying the governor encourages those around him to work collectively towards achieving common goals.
He said the governor’s emphasis on accountability has also helped to ensure that officials entrusted with public responsibilities remain answerable for their assignments and deliverables.
Abubakar Malam said the development projects and interventions undertaken by the administration across different parts of Kebbi State had provided a strong basis for the people to assess its performance.
He consequently urged Kebbi residents to support Governor Idris for a second term, arguing that continuity would enable the administration to consolidate ongoing projects and sustain its development agenda.
Beyond governance and infrastructure, the SRRBDA Managing Director also praised the governor’s personal qualities, particularly his ability to maintain relationships and remain connected to the people.
He described Governor Idris as “a man of the people,” noting that the governor places considerable value on relationships and does not easily forget acts of kindness previously extended to him or members of his family.
Malam also linked the relative political stability and cordial relationships among past and present political leaders in Kebbi State to the governor’s humility, accommodating disposition and willingness to work with stakeholders.
He said the peaceful interaction among political actors had contributed significantly to creating an environment conducive to development and governance in the state.
The SRRBDA Managing Director equally commended Commissioner Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi and members of the governor’s media team for their efforts in communicating government policies, programmes and achievements to citizens.
He described the media team as “the bridge between government and the people,” stressing that effective communication was essential to ensuring that citizens understood government interventions and their impact on communities.
He urged the media aides to continue documenting development projects, explaining government policies clearly, addressing misinformation with verifiable facts and highlighting how various interventions were improving the livelihoods of residents.
The visit provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on effective communication, development and the importance of maintaining a strong connection between government and the people.
