Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has approved a reshuffle involving redeployment of a commissioner and the assignment of supervisory responsibilities to several members of the State Executive Council following recent resignations.
The changes come after the Chief of Staff, Government House, and six commissioners stepped down to pursue political ambitions, creating vacancies across key ministries and offices.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the affected ministries will be overseen on an interim basis pending the appointment of substantive office holders.
Under the new arrangement, the Principal Private Secretary, Hashimu Yakubu, will supervise the Office of the Chief of Staff. Dr. Mohammed Lawal R/Zayam has been redeployed to the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology.
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hassan Usman El-Yakub (SAN), will oversee the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, while the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Usman Shehu, has been assigned supervisory duties over the Ministry of Water Resources.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, will supervise the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties. Amina Muhammad Katagum, Commissioner for Budget, Planning and Multilateral Coordination, has been directed to oversee the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
In the same vein, the Commissioner for Cooperatives and SMEs, Mohammed Sadiq Shira, will supervise the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, while the Chief Security Adviser to the Governor, DIG Sani Mohammed (rtd), will take charge of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.
Governor Mohammed commended the outgoing officials for their service and wished them success in their future pursuits.
He also urged those assigned new responsibilities to effectively manage their roles and work closely with permanent secretaries to ensure continuity in governance.
