Ningi’s suspension for three months was imposed by the Senate on March 12 after he made statements alleging an N3.7tn inflation in the 2024 budget.

In the letter addressed to Akpabio, Falana emphasized Ningi’s right to freedom of speech as guaranteed by the constitution and African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights. The letter also criticized the Senate’s handling of Ningi’s case, citing violations of legislative powers and privileges.
