Safana Tasks Katsina Civil Servants on Radda’s Policies, Public Interest

Katsina State Government

By Lawal Gwanda

The Special Adviser to Katsina State Governor on Local Government Insurance, Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana, has called on civil servants to take an active role in promoting good governance, warning that a workforce without a clear understanding of government policies could hinder the development of the state.

Safana made the call during a sensitisation meeting with Katsina State Government workers in Kankia Local Government Area, organised by the Concerned Civil Servants for Good Governance Forum as part of its engagement tour across the state’s 34 local government areas.

He stressed that civil servants remain critical to the success of any administration, noting that their conduct, professional competence and understanding of government programmes have far-reaching implications for society.

According to him, workers must understand the direction of the government and ensure that their daily responsibilities contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.

“When a civil servant discharges his duties effectively, it helps to reform the entire society. If we allow a civil servant not to know where we started and where we are going, it is dangerous. Once a civil servant is confused, then the whole state is confused,” Safana said.

He further observed that civil servants wield considerable influence beyond their participation in elections, explaining that members of the public often rely on their advice and opinions when making important decisions.

The governor’s aide therefore urged workers to familiarise themselves with the policies and programmes of Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, and place the collective interest of the people above personal considerations.

Safana also expressed confidence in the Radda administration, describing its governance approach as one he believes offers significant benefits to the people of Katsina State.

“No matter how much you dislike Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda’s government, you do not have a government better than this one,” he declared.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Concerned Civil Servants for Good Governance Forum, Alhaji Ya’u Hassan Fardami, explained that the ongoing tour was designed to create opportunities for constructive engagement with government workers on governance, public service delivery and development.

He said the initiative was also intended to strengthen workers’ understanding of government policies and encourage their active participation in promoting good governance across the state.

In his remarks, the Acting Chairman of Kankia Local Government Area described the Radda administration as worker-friendly, citing the Community Development Programme (CDP) as one of the initiatives demonstrating the government’s commitment to grassroots development.

He called on civil servants to support public awareness efforts by educating residents about government projects and programmes, stressing that effective communication between government and citizens was essential to achieving meaningful development.

The meeting concluded with the inauguration of the executives of the Concerned Civil Servants for Good Governance Forum in Kankia Local Government Area by Hon. Safana, marking another step in the forum’s statewide engagement with public servants.
