Residents of Anguwan Sabon Fegi and Balu communities in Waziri North Ward of Dukku Local Government Area of Gombe State have appealed to the state government and donor agencies to intervene in the ecological challenges affecting their communities.
The appeal was made by Mallam Abba Dokoro of Sabon Fegi during a community development exercise organised in the two communities.
Mallam Abba Dokoro also urged residents to embrace communal development activities, stressing that collective efforts were essential to addressing challenges confronting the communities.
In separate remarks, the community leaders of Balu, Alhaji Sunusi Bappah and Usman Abduljalal, popularly known as Baban Raga, commended the Chairman of Dukku Local Government Area, Alhaji Abubakar Adamu, for his support towards community development initiatives.
They appealed to the council chairman to establish a police outpost at Anguwan Arewa to strengthen security and protect residents in the area.
Responding, the Chairman of Dukku Local Government Area, Alhaji Abubakar Adamu, represented by the Councillor representing Waziri North Ward, Ibrahim Abdullahi, commended the people of Sabon Fegi and Balu for organising themselves and participating in communal development activities.
He called on residents of Dukku Local Government Area to support the administration in its efforts to implement developmental projects across the area.
The council chairman also advised residents to avoid constructing buildings along waterways and desist from indiscriminate tree felling, noting that such practices could worsen environmental challenges and expose communities to ecological hazards.
