KATSINA — Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has flagged off the reconstruction of the 38-kilometre Bindawa–Dallaje–Doro–Giremawa–Duwan Junction Road, a project expected to improve transportation, boost agricultural activities and stimulate economic growth across Bindawa and Mani Local Government Areas.

Governor Radda performed the groundbreaking ceremony at Kamri Junction, shortly after visiting the Bindawa Local Government Secretariat, describing the project as part of his administration’s Building Your Future agenda aimed at expanding infrastructure and improving living conditions across the state.

The governor said the poor condition of the road had hindered the movement of people and goods, slowed agricultural activities and affected commercial and other socio-economic engagements in the benefiting communities.

He explained that the reconstruction would provide better access to markets, farms, healthcare facilities and other essential services, while creating opportunities for investment, employment and rural economic development.

According to him, improving rural road networks remains a priority of his administration because of their importance to agricultural productivity, commercial activities and the overall development of communities.

Radda noted that his government had embarked on an extensive infrastructure programme covering urban renewal, major inter-township roads, rural roads, bypasses, drainage systems and other critical public facilities.

He cited ongoing and completed interventions along the Kankia–Dangamau–Kusada Road, the Kadanya–Radda–Tsakatsa–Ganuwa corridor and the Tashar Bawa–Sayau–Rafin Iwa–Sabuwa Road, noting that two dams were also being constructed along the routes to support irrigation and sustainable livelihoods.

The governor expressed appreciation to the people of Katsina State for their continued support, patience and cooperation, assuring them that his administration would sustain efforts to extend development projects to communities across the state.

Road Will Boost Agriculture, Commerce — Commissioner

Speaking at the ceremony, the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Engineer Sani Magaji Ingawa, said the road project would strengthen connectivity among the benefiting communities and ease the transportation of agricultural produce to markets.

He described the project as an important investment in agriculture, commerce and rural development, noting that improved road infrastructure would help residents move goods and access essential services with greater ease.

Ingawa also reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to effective project supervision, quality control and strict compliance with approved engineering standards to ensure that the road meets the required specifications and serves the communities for years to come.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of Bindawa Local Government Area, Alhaji Badaru Musa Giremawa, commended Governor Radda for initiating the road reconstruction project and other interventions in the area, particularly in the healthcare sector.
