The Quranic Education Advancement Network (QEAN) has appointed veteran freelance journalist Abdulrazak Ahmad Jibia as its National Director of Media and Publicity, in a move aimed at strengthening the organisation’s public communication and advocacy efforts.
The appointment was conveyed in an official letter signed by QEAN National Secretary, Dr. Abdullahi Hamza Idris, on behalf of the National Chairman, Imam Dr. Ibrahim Surajo Rabi’u.
According to the organisation, Jibia was selected in recognition of his commitment to the advancement of Tsangaya and Quranic education, as well as his experience and contributions to journalism and public communication.
QEAN said his professional knowledge, sound judgement, guidance and personal conduct would be valuable in advancing the network’s objectives.
The appointment took effect on September 3, 2026.
Jibia formally received his certificate of appointment from Alaramma Muhammad Ahmad, Chairman of the QEAN Katsina State Chapter.
Speaking after receiving the certificate, Jibia expressed gratitude to Allah Almighty and appreciated the leadership of QEAN for entrusting him with the responsibility.
Rather than portraying the new role as a position of prestige, the journalist described it as an opportunity to serve, stressing the importance of humility, discipline, good character, self-control and commitment to the faith.
He also emphasised the need for dedication and responsible conduct in carrying out responsibilities entrusted to him.
Jibia brings to the new assignment considerable experience across different segments of the Nigerian media industry.
His professional career has covered television, radio, newspapers and digital journalism, with experience spanning news reporting, editorial work, programming, production, commercial operations and media management.
Among his previous positions, he served as Chief Editor of Hikaya Newspaper, Head of News at Hikaya Radio, Head of Programming at Hikaya TV, Production Manager at Hausa7 TV, Commercial Officer at Hausa Daily Post, Editor at Fact Broadcasting Company, and reporter with African Television Power.
Over the years, his journalism has largely focused on issues affecting Northern Nigeria, including governance, human rights, education, accountability, conflict and displacement, as well as community development.
Through human-interest reports, investigative journalism and multimedia storytelling, Jibia has contributed to public discussions on challenges confronting ordinary citizens, particularly vulnerable communities.
His appointment therefore places a journalist with broad newsroom and broadcasting experience at the centre of QEAN’s media and publicity activities.
The Quranic Education Advancement Network is focused on promoting and strengthening Quranic and Tsangaya education in Nigeria.
With Jibia now heading its national media and publicity portfolio, the organisation is expected to place greater emphasis on strategic communication, public awareness and wider visibility for its programmes, activities and advocacy initiatives.
The new assignment also comes at a time when discussions surrounding the future, relevance and development of Tsangaya education continue to attract public attention across Northern Nigeria.
For QEAN, Jibia’s role will involve communicating the organisation’s programmes and objectives to the wider public while helping to build stronger public understanding of its work in the Quranic education sector.
