Uyo — The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has received a major boost in its public relations and community policing efforts following the donation of a professional camera by the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).
The equipment was presented on Friday, August 7, 2026, when the PCRC National Executive, led by its national representative, Amb. Mary Joseph, alongside the Akwa Ibom State PCRC Chairman and executive members, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, MNIPR.
The visit focused on strengthening the partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the PCRC in tackling crime, improving public safety and promoting community-oriented policing across the state.
The camera donation, made in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+) NPM, and the recommendation of the PCRC National Chairman, is expected to enhance the Command’s documentation, public relations and strategic communication operations.
Receiving the delegation, CP Azare expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for what he described as visionary leadership and sustained efforts to deepen community policing and strategic partnerships across the Nigeria Police Force.
The Commissioner also commended the PCRC leadership for the gesture, describing the donation as a demonstration of the shared commitment to professionalism, transparency and effective communication between the police and the public.
He assured the committee that the equipment would be judiciously deployed to strengthen the Command’s documentation and public engagement, ultimately supporting its broader mandate of protecting lives and property.
Speaking on behalf of the PCRC delegation, Amb. Mary Joseph reaffirmed the Committee’s readiness to continue supporting the police through advocacy, partnership and community engagement initiatives aimed at promoting peace, security and public confidence.
The Command said the engagement further underscored the importance of collaboration among the police, communities, civil society organisations and other stakeholders in confronting security challenges.
The Akwa Ibom Police Command, it added, remains committed to expanding such partnerships as part of efforts to build a safer and more secure state.
