More than 8,000 members of the Tijjaniyya order have gathered in Birnin Kebbi for a powerful Maulud ceremony, turning the event into a massive prayer session for peace, unity and stability in Nigeria.
The gathering, held at the Kebbi State Government House on Sunday, August 16, brought together Tijjaniyya faithful and representatives of the order from different parts of the country.
Speaking at the occasion, Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, urged Muslims to intensify prayers for communities battling insecurity and other challenges across the state and the nation.
Governor Idris called on the worshippers to return to their respective mosques and prayer centres and continue offering special prayers for lasting peace, while also seeking divine intervention for the progress and development of Kebbi State and Nigeria.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting Islamic values and supporting programmes aimed at strengthening moral and spiritual development among the people.
He expressed confidence that with unity, collective prayers and determination, his administration would overcome the challenges confronting the state, particularly as the country approaches the 2027 general elections.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Tijjaniyya Group for Mobilisation and Empowerment Initiative of Nigeria in Kebbi, Malam Nazifi Inyas, said the organisation was established to assist vulnerable members of society and encourage citizens to participate actively and responsibly in the political process.
Inyas commended Governor Idris for his longstanding support for the organisation, noting that the governor had been associated with and supporting the group even before assuming office.
The Maulud gathering ended with renewed calls for peace, unity and responsible citizenship, as the thousands of worshippers joined voices in seeking divine intervention for Nigeria’s security and development.
