The Mining Marshals of the NSCDC have struck a blow against illicit mining activities, nabbing four Chinese nationals at a clandestine lithium trading hub in Nasarawa State’s Karu Local Government Area.
The NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi, revealed in a statement on Saturday the successful arrests, which followed the deployment of expert personnel as Federal Government Mining Marshals.
Afolabi remarked, “With our newly commissioned NSCDC Mining Marshals, we are aggressively targeting illegal mining operations that undermine the nation’s economy.
The Mining Marshals, acting on credible intel, zeroed in on an illegal lithium hotspot in Karu LGA, Nasarawa State.
During the operation, we apprehended four Chinese nationals who confessed to operating an illicit mining site,” he added.
This daring raid underscores NSCDC’s commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s mineral resources and sending a clear message to those engaging in illegal mining activities.
