In a display of courage and swift action, the Katsina Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) successfully repelled a bandit attack on the Federal Government Special Grains Reserve located in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 6th April 2024, was aimed at destroying the reserve and abducting the Manager, Mr. Lawal Shitu Yar’adua.
Under the leadership of Commandant Jamilu A. Indabawa, the NSCDC operatives stationed at the reserve, specifically the Agro Ranger unit, responded promptly to the threat.
Engaging the armed bandits in a fierce gun battle lasting over two hours, the operatives bravely defended the reserve, preventing any damage to the facility or harm to personnel.
Despite the bandits managing to escape with injuries after scaling the reserve’s rear fence, the NSCDC’s quick and effective response ensured the safety and security of the grains reserve.
Additional security reinforcements were immediately mobilized, and plans are underway to further strengthen security measures at the location to prevent future attacks.
The Federal Grains Reserve at Dutsinma plays a vital role in providing a Asagrains to communities in Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto states.
