Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has appealed to residents of the state to remain calm following the recent tragic incident that claimed several lives.
Bago acknowledged the difficult situation confronting the government and people of Niger State, describing the moment as a trying period for the state.
The governor, however, urged citizens to resist any form of attack or reprisal, stressing that targeting individuals would not resolve the situation.
“We appeal to our citizens to remain calm. Attacking people will not solve the issue,” Bago said.
He assured residents that the state government was working closely with security agencies to restore peace and stability across the affected areas.
“We know this is a very trying moment for us as a government and as a people, but we are working closely with the security agencies to ensure that peace and calm are restored,” the governor said.
Bago’s appeal comes amid heightened emotions following the incident, with the government calling for restraint while efforts continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
The governor urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and avoid actions capable of escalating tensions or further threatening lives and property.
