Makinde Seeks UN Probe into Oyo School Abduction, Demands Full Transparency

Borno State Government

By Abdullahi Inuwa

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has called for an international investigation into the abduction of pupils and teachers from Ahoro Esinle School in Oriire Local Government Area, urging the United Nations and other global human rights and accountability bodies to intervene.

Makinde said Nigerians deserve full transparency over the circumstances surrounding the incident, arguing that the school abduction raises questions that should not be left solely to domestic investigations.

The governor maintained that an independent international probe would help establish the facts, ensure accountability where necessary, and strengthen public confidence in the handling of the case.

His remarks come amid growing public concern over the safety of schools and the recurring threat of kidnappings targeting students and education workers across parts of the country.

The call has sparked fresh debate over Nigeria’s security challenges and the need for greater transparency in addressing incidents involving mass abductions.
