Allied People’s Movement (APM) National leader, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has congratulated the newly elected chairpersons of the twenty Local Government Councils in the state over their subsequent victories in the just concluded polls.
All the candidates of the ruling Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to the respective twenty local government councils in the state emerged victorious as chairmen of the councils in the elections conducted Monday by the State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC).
Senator Bala Mohammed, also the State Governor who described the elections as successful, peaceful and credible, commended BASIEC, security agencies, political parties, election officials , elections observers , Media and other stakeholders for their contributions towards the smooth conduct off the exercise.
Swearing-in the newly elected chairmen in Bauchi Tuesday, the governor specifically commended the
people of Bauchi state for their peaceful and orderly participation in the elections, observing that the electorate have once again demonstrated their commitment to deepen democracy by freely exercising their constitutional right to elect candidates of their choice.
Governor Bala urged the councils new officials to see their victories as a call to service and a mandate from the people, rather than merely an achievement, as he also charged the officials to justify the confidence reposed in them by the electorate by providing effective, transparent and accountable leadership at the grassroots.
According to him, they should similarly prioritize the welfare and development of their respective local government areas, promote peace and unity, and work closely with their communities in addressing their needs and aspirations.
The Governor assured the new leaders the state government’s continued support and cooperation as they discharge their responsibilities in accordance with the law and in the overall interest of the people.
He wished the chairpersons successful tenure in office, and called on them to uphold the trust and confidence reposed in them by the people of their respective local government areas.
The new Chairmen are expected to be sworn-in Tuesday by the State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed to enable them assume their respective offices in earnest.
Chairman of the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), Hon. Jummai S. Abubukar has earlier announced the results of the state councils polls where she revealed that Bappah Aliyu Mohammed, Umar Mohammed Aliyu and Zakka Luka Magaji emerged as chairmen of Alkaleri, Bauchi and Bogoro LG councils under the APM with 107, 482; 125, 170; and 25, 282 votes respectively.
Jummai gave others as IIya Isah APM as chairman of Dambam LG with 19, 730 votes; Ya’u Sama’ila Sade APM Darazo LG chairman with 67, 276 votes; Mohammed Abubukar Jibo of APM as chairman of Dass LGC with 35, 264 votes; Gamawa LG has Ali Babayo APM as chairman with 54, 423 votes; and Ganjuwa that has Mohammed Idris APM as chairman with 24, 150 votes.
Also emerging as chairmen in the elections are Mustapha Alhaji Musa APM for Giade LG with 33, 864 votes; Dankawuwa Ya’u APM chairman for Itas/Gadau LG with 24, 898 votes; Jama’are has Inuwa Abdullahi APM as chairman with 36, 766 votes; Katagum has Yusuf Babayo Zaki APM as chairman with 65, 626 votes; Kirfi has Garba Musa APM as chairman with 24, 787 votes; while Misau has Salisu Hussaini APM as chairman with 34, 378 votes.
She revealed that Ningi has Yahuza Adamu Haruna APM as chairman with 29, 378 votes; Saleh Hodi Jibir APM polled 37, 135 votes to emerge as Shira chairman; Sama’ila Wakili Lere APM clinched chairmanship of Tafawa Balewa LG with 46, 625 votes; Toro LG has Abubukar Ibrahim Dembo APM as chairman with 109, 999 votes; Warji LG has Habibu Idris Usman APM as chairman who scored 43, 066 votes; as Mas’ud Aliyu APM takes on Zaki LG chairmanship with 19, 984 voices.
Hajiya Jummai Abubukar explained that BASIEC confirmed the APM candidates as duly elected chairmen to their respective Local Government councils, as she appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for his support to the conduct of the polls, stressing that elections were conducted independently and in accordance and in accordance with the law.
