The Kebbi State Government has begun a statewide mobilization of its media team ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging Special Advisers on New Media across the state to intensify efforts in promoting Governor Nasir Idris’ achievements while countering what it described as opposition-driven misinformation.
Speaking during an interactive session with 23 Special Advisers from the Zuru Emirate in Zuru, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK, charged the media aides to prepare for the political challenges ahead as electioneering activities gradually gather momentum.
He warned that opposition elements were already deploying misinformation, propaganda and what he described as outright falsehoods in a bid to gain political advantage, stressing that the government’s media team must remain vigilant and professional in responding with facts.
The commissioner praised the advisers for their commitment and performance over the past three years, urging them to remain fair, firm and fearless in showcasing the administration’s developmental strides across Kebbi State.
Yakubu said the responsibility of the media team was not only to publicize government policies but also to ensure that accurate information reached the public to counter misleading narratives.
The advocacy delegation included the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Yahaya Sarki; Special Adviser on Communications Strategy, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris Zuru; Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment and Orientation, Alhaji Ibrahim A. Jombali; Special Adviser on New Media, Alhaji Aliyu Bandado; and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Idris.
The Zuru meeting marked the first phase of the government’s advocacy tour, with similar engagements scheduled for the Argungu, Yauri and Gwandu Emirates as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s media communication network ahead of the next electoral cycle.
