The Kebbi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for a full, transparent and impartial investigation into the recent political violence reported in Jega Local Government Area of the state.
The party also demanded that anyone found responsible for the incident be brought to justice, stressing that political differences should never be allowed to degenerate into violence or destruction.
The APC State Publicity Secretary, Isah Assalafi, made the call on Saturday, September 27, 2026, during a press briefing at the party’s secretariat in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
Assalafi said the party had taken note of the recent violence and disturbances in parts of Jega, describing the development as serious enough to warrant the immediate attention of security agencies and other relevant authorities.
He urged the security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, identify those responsible and ensure that appropriate legal action is taken.
According to him, political disagreements cannot constitute a licence for criminality, insisting that no political objective can justify the destruction of lives, property or public peace.
The APC spokesperson further appealed to political actors, party supporters and other stakeholders to avoid inflammatory statements, deliberate misinformation and actions capable of escalating tensions in Jega and other parts of Kebbi State.
He noted that Jega has a long history of active political participation and remains an important community in Kebbi, stressing that the actions of a minority should not be used to create a negative impression about the entire community.
Assalafi said the APC-led administration of Governor Nasir Idris remained committed to the development of the state and the implementation of programmes and projects designed to improve the welfare of citizens.
He maintained that peace and security remained fundamental to the successful implementation of the administration’s development agenda.
The party also commended security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders and residents whose efforts, according to the statement, contributed to restoring calm following the incident.
The APC called for a transparent investigation that would establish the facts surrounding the violence and ensure that justice is served, while urging all parties to maintain peace and allow the appropriate authorities to handle the matter.
