Jibia, Faskari LGAs Witness Swift Police Action, Bandits Repelled
The Katsina State Police Command thwarted two kidnap attempts on December 7, 2024, rescuing 20 victims from armed bandits in Jibia and Faskari Local Government Areas.
In the first incident, at Kwanar Makera on the Katsina–Magamar Jibia road, gunmen armed with AK-47 rifles ambushed a vehicle at about 7:00 PM, opening fire to abduct its occupants. Acting on a tip-off, police operatives from the Jibia Division swiftly intervened, engaging the bandits in a fierce exchange of gunfire. The attackers fled with injuries, leaving all ten passengers unharmed.
Later that night, at Marabar Bangori along the Funtua–Gusau road in Faskari LGA, another ambush targeted a passenger vehicle. Responding decisively, the police confronted the assailants in a heated gun battle, forcing them to abandon their plot. Ten more victims were rescued, though one required hospital treatment due to injuries inflicted by the criminals.
Commending his officers’ bravery, Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
