Late on May 5th, 2024, the Katsina Police Command showcased remarkable valor as they thwarted a dangerous bandit attack targeting two commercial vehicles near Unguwar Boka village.
The incident unfolded along the Funtua-Gusau Road, where assailants ambushed a luxurious bus heading from Onitsha to Gusau, Zamfara State, alongside a Volkswagen Golf 3 en route to Zaria.
Under the cover of darkness, the bandits, hiding in the dense foliage, launched a barrage of gunfire at the vehicles, compelling the drivers to veer off-road in a desperate bid for safety.
However, swift action by the command’s operatives, led by the diligent DPO, turned the tables on the attackers.Responding promptly, the police engaged the bandits in a fierce confrontation, skillfully neutralizing the threat and liberating all 52 passengers from imminent danger.
Despite the chaos, no injuries were reported among the rescued individuals.
As the search for the fleeing assailants intensifies, the police remain vigilant, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in combating criminal activities.
