Katsina Police Foil Midnight Kidnap Attempt, Rescue Teen Girl After Fierce Gun Battle

The Katsina State Police has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued an 18-year-old girl following a late-night gun duel with suspected bandits in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.

The victim, identified as Aisha Kabir, was abducted by armed hoodlums who reportedly stormed Kukoki Quarters in Danmusa town at about 11:53 p.m. on May 13, 2026.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Danmusa swiftly mobilised an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) tactical patrol team immediately after receiving the distress call.

The police team reportedly engaged the fleeing bandits in a fierce gun battle and overpowered them, forcing the attackers to abandon the victim and flee into nearby bushes with suspected gunshot wounds.

The rescued teenager was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation before being safely reunited with her family.

Security operatives have since launched intensive bush-combing operations to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.

Commending the officers involved in the operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage, praised their swift response and bravery, reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

The police also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to support ongoing security operations against criminal elements in Katsina State.
