Parents of students at Mariamoh Ajiri International School (MAMIS), Katsina, have announced a temporary boycott of the school over concerns surrounding an increase in school fees and other charges imposed on students.
In a notice circulated among parents, the concerned group urged parents to keep their children away from the school premises beginning Monday, September 7, 2026, pending further developments on the matter.
The parents also called on families to suspend payments of school fees and other related charges until the outcome of a meeting with the school management is known.
According to the notice, the action was prompted by concerns over what the parents described as increased school fees and additional charges, which they said had placed further financial pressure on families.
The group appealed to parents to remain calm and await further announcements following the planned engagement, stressing that the boycott is temporary and subject to the outcome of discussions.
Meanwhile, ABC News contacted the management of Mariamoh Ajiri International School to obtain its response and ensure that the school’s position was reflected in the report. However, the management had not responded to the inquiry as of the time of filing this report.
The development comes amid growing concerns among parents over the rising cost of education and additional financial obligations associated with schooling.
The concerned parents expressed regret over any inconvenience the action may cause, while urging parents to remain united and await further communication on the outcome of the meeting.
