The race for the Katsina North Senatorial seat has taken a dramatic turn as former Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, officially declared his intention to contest under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sirika made the announcement on Friday at the APC State Headquarters in Katsina, instantly reshaping what is fast becoming one of the most fiercely contested senatorial battles in the state.
With his entry, the Daura Zone contest now features a heavyweight lineup, including the incumbent senator Nasiru Sani Zangon Daura, Speaker of the State Assembly Nasiru Yahya Daura, and political figure Shehu Abdu Daura—all vying for the prized seat.

Political observers say Sirika’s declaration introduces a new layer of intrigue, given his national profile and experience in federal governance, setting the stage for an intense showdown within the ruling party.
Insiders also hint that another major contender may soon join the race, further tightening the contest and raising the stakes.

With alignments shifting and ambitions clashing, the next 30 days promise high drama, strategic maneuvering, and a defining test of political strength in Katsina North.
