APC Picks Buni, Lawan, Bomai as Consensus Candidates for Yobe Senate Seats

Borno State Government

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State has produced its senatorial flag bearers for the 2027 general elections, with Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, and Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai emerging as consensus candidates in a peaceful primary process.

Governor Buni secured the party’s ticket for the Yobe East Senatorial District, while former Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan, was affirmed for Yobe North Senatorial District. Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai also emerged as the APC consensus candidate for Yobe South Senatorial District.

Party stakeholders and delegates across the three senatorial zones reportedly endorsed the candidates through consensus arrangements aimed at strengthening unity within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 polls.

The affirmation exercise was conducted peacefully, with party officials describing the process as transparent, orderly, and reflective of internal cohesion within the APC in Yobe State.

Political observers say the emergence of the trio has further positioned the APC strongly in the state, where the party continues to maintain significant political dominance.

Supporters of the candidates celebrated the outcome shortly after the announcements, expressing confidence that the party would retain the senatorial seats in the next general election.
