The Executive Chairman of Katsina Local Government Council, Hon. Isah Miqdad, has flagged off the construction of a new Police Outpost in Kofar Sauri community, Wakilin Gabas I Ward, in a move aimed at boosting security and strengthening community policing.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Miqdad said the project forms part of his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property while bringing government closer to the people.
The chairman also announced plans to construct three motorized solar-powered boreholes within the next three months to ease the water shortage affecting residents, particularly following disruptions caused by the ongoing road dualisation project in the area.
In addition to the infrastructure projects, Miqdad unveiled youth-focused initiatives, including business empowerment programmes and educational scholarships designed to support young people seeking to further their studies and improve their livelihoods.
Welcoming guests to the event, the Councillor representing Wakilin Gabas I Ward, Hon. Zaharaddeen Sirajo, lauded the chairman for what he described as a series of impactful developmental projects across the ward, noting that the police outpost would significantly enhance security in the community.
Several dignitaries who spoke during the occasion commended the council chairman’s grassroots development drive. Among them were the member representing Katsina Local Government in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Aliyu Abubakar Albaba; the Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Mannir Ayuba Sullubawa; the Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Development Management Board, Dr. Mustapha Shehu; and the Sarkin Zagon Katsina, Alhaji Haruna Dalhatu.
They described the projects as timely interventions that would improve security, access to water, and economic opportunities for residents.
Also speaking, the Divisional Police Officer of Katsina Central Police Station, CSP Salahuddeen, expressed gratitude to the council chairman for the initiative and assured the community that qualified and experienced police personnel would be deployed to the outpost upon completion.
The event attracted government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, security operatives, and other stakeholders, underscoring broad support for the council’s efforts to promote development and security at the grassroots level.
