ABUJA — It was another moment of recognition for Katsina State Governor’s aide, Dr. Hafiz Ibrahim Ahmed, as he received a prestigious humanitarian award in Abuja for his contributions to community development and empowerment.
The Special Adviser to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda on Power and Energy was honoured at the 5th Nigerian Humanitarian Awards and Magazine, held on Saturday at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
The organisers said Dr. Hafiz was recognised for his commitment to youth and women empowerment, skills development and initiatives aimed at improving the livelihoods of vulnerable Nigerians.
The latest honour brings to 10 the number of awards reportedly received by the Katsina governor’s aide within two months, highlighting the growing attention surrounding his humanitarian activities.
Despite his official responsibility of driving initiatives in the power and energy sector, Dr. Hafiz has continued to engage in activities focused on supporting disadvantaged members of society and creating opportunities for young people and women.
Receiving the award, he described the recognition as both an honour and a challenge to intensify his efforts in humanitarian service.
He dedicated the award to his mother, whom he credited with teaching him the importance of helping others.
According to him, his commitment to humanitarian work was shaped by his childhood experience of watching his mother show compassion and extend assistance to people in need.
Dr. Hafiz also expressed appreciation to Governor Radda for his support and leadership, saying his experience serving in the administration had strengthened his commitment to people-centred public service.
He stressed that humanitarianism should not be measured only by financial donations, but by the willingness to identify people’s needs and take practical steps to address them.
The governor’s aide reaffirmed his determination to promote initiatives that would make youths and women more economically independent while contributing to stronger and more resilient communities across Katsina State.
The humanitarian awards ceremony attracted prominent figures from government, business, civil society and philanthropy.
Among those in attendance were elder statesman Senator Abu Ibrahim; Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on School Feeding; Alhaji Yusuf Bukar Mandara, Dujima of Borno; Hon. Kabiru Lawal, Founder of the KLM Foundation; and Engr. Abdulaziz Kabir Abdullahi, Technical Assistant to the Katsina State Governor on Renewable Energy, among other dignitaries.
For Dr. Hafiz, the Abuja recognition represents another milestone — but, by his own account, another reason to keep serving.
