Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, the Governor of Katsina State, has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in the state to take decisive action against members engaging in activities contrary to the party’s interests.
Governor Radda’s directive came during the submission of a comprehensive report by a committee tasked with investigating alleged anti-party activities during the recent rerun election for the Faskari-Sabuwa-Kankara federal constituency.
Emphasizing the critical need for party unity, Governor Radda proposed the formation of a robust committee to spearhead extensive reconciliation efforts, particularly in areas where internal divisions are prominent.
Chairman of the investigative committee and former state deputy governor, Alhaji Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi, presented a detailed five-point recommendation report.
He assured that the committee strictly adhered to the party and national constitutions, along with the specified terms of reference during their investigation.
Jikamshi highlighted instances of sabotage within the party, notably in Faskari Local Government, which adversely affected the APC’s electoral performance.
He also pointed out the existence of internal factions within Kankara and Faskari local governments, allegedly stemming from the personal agendas of certain party leaders.
Expressing optimism, Jikamshi urged the implementation of the committee’s recommendations, including the formation of a dedicated reconciliation committee, to foster a cohesive and unified APC in Katsina State.
The report was initially submitted to Sani Aliyu Daura, the state chairman of the APC, who subsequently passed it on to Governor Radda for further action.
