The Contractors Association of Kaduna State has distanced itself from a controversial protest over an alleged ₦30 billion unpaid contract involving Formal Act Legacy Limited, declaring the action unauthorized and unrepresentative of its members.
In a strongly worded exoneration notice, the Association said it neither approved nor participated in the demonstration staged by “a few individuals,” stressing that no official meeting or resolution backed the protest.
The body reaffirmed its status as the umbrella organization for all contractors in the state, noting that decisions of such magnitude must follow due process and collective agreement—conditions it said were clearly not met.
Condemning the protest as unlawful, the Association emphasized its commitment to dialogue and legal channels in resolving disputes. It also revealed that members who took part in the action have been sanctioned in line with its constitution and code of conduct.
Chairman Ahmed Baba warned against attempts to misuse the Association’s name for “personal or factional interests,” urging the public and stakeholders to disregard any claims linking the group to the protest.
The Association reiterated its dedication to professionalism, transparency, and protecting the collective interests of contractors across Kaduna State.
