Senator Isah Jibrin, representing Kogi East Senatorial District, has rejected the outcome of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in the zone, insisting he remains the authentic candidate of the party.
The APC had on Monday declared Joseph Erico as the winner of the senatorial primary election for Kogi East, a development that has triggered controversy within the party.
But in a swift reaction, Senator Jibrin dismissed reports suggesting he stepped down from the race, maintaining that he neither withdrew nor endorsed any other aspirant.
He described the announced result as unacceptable, insisting that due process was not followed in the conduct of the primary.
The lawmaker’s rejection of the outcome has further deepened tension within the party in the district, as supporters await the official position of the APC national leadership on the disputed exercise.
