IDRIS DELIVERS: Kebbi Gov Commissions Ultra-Modern Market, Boosts Traders

Borno State Government

Governor Nasir Idris has commissioned a state-of-the-art vegetables market in Birnin Kebbi, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of traders and strengthening grassroots commerce.

The newly completed ultra-modern facility, located at Gwari Market, replaces what the governor described as an “open and unsuitable” trading space that had long hindered business activities in the area.

Speaking at the ceremony, Idris said the project was executed in response to persistent appeals from traders who sought government intervention for a more conducive and secure business environment.

“This market is built to uplift livelihoods,” the governor stated, noting that the modern stalls will enable traders—especially those dealing in vegetables and food items—to store goods safely and operate in an organized setting without disruption.

He emphasized that the project reflects his administration’s broader agenda of supporting small-scale businesses and ensuring that development directly impacts ordinary citizens.

The governor also expressed gratitude for the successful completion of the project before formally opening the facility for public use.

In his remarks, Chairman of Kayan Gwari Market, Umarun Basiru, lauded the governor for fulfilling his promise, describing the project as a major boost to traders’ economic fortunes.

According to him, the new market is expected to enhance commercial activities, improve hygiene standards, and significantly increase internally generated revenue for the state.

The commissioning marks another milestone in Kebbi’s drive toward modern infrastructure and inclusive economic growth.
