In a move that underscores his unwavering commitment to restoring peace and fostering development in Borno State, His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, embarked on a two-day visit to Bama. The Governor’s visit was marked by audacious inspections, heartfelt engagements with residents, and bold steps to address lingering challenges in the region.
Governor Zulum began his heroic journey with a visit to the remote and troubled community of Abbaram, a site that had long been considered unsafe due to insurgent activities. Defying security risks, the Governor’s arrival brought hope to the residents, who were overjoyed to see their leader firsthand. His presence in Abbaram was not just symbolic but a statement of resilience and determination to rebuild even the most marginalized areas of Borno State.
During his stay in Abbaram, Governor Zulum interacted with local leaders, women, and youths, listening attentively to their grievances and aspirations. He assured them of his administration’s commitment to rehabilitating critical infrastructure, improving security, and creating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods. “Your courage inspires us. Together, we will transform Abbaram into a thriving community,” Zulum said, earning resounding applause from the crowd.
The Governor’s next stop was Darajamal, where he inspected ongoing rehabilitation projects. The town, which had suffered severe devastation during the peak of the insurgency, is now witnessing gradual reconstruction under Zulum’s leadership. The Governor commended the contractors for their dedication and urged them to expedite the completion of housing units, schools, and healthcare facilities to enable displaced persons to return home.
While in Darajamal, Zulum visited a temporary shelter housing displaced families, where he distributed food items, clothing, and cash assistance. His gesture was met with tears of joy from beneficiaries, who described the Governor as a “true leader and father.”
The final leg of the Governor’s tour took him to Goniri, a community situated near the border with Yobe State. Here, Zulum inspected farming initiatives aimed at boosting food security and economic recovery. The Governor also met with local farmers, promising them support in the form of fertilizers, improved seedlings, and agricultural equipment.
Governor Zulum’s visit to these three communities highlighted his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Borno’s residents, particularly those in conflict-affected areas. His engagements underscored his hands-on approach to governance, which has become a hallmark of his tenure.
The two-day engagement was not without challenges, as the Governor and his entourage navigated difficult terrains and faced potential security threats. However, Zulum’s resolve remained unshaken. His actions were lauded by local stakeholders, security operatives, and international partners who described his leadership as a beacon of hope for the region.
As he concluded his visit, Governor Zulum reiterated his administration’s resolve to rebuild Borno State. “Our mission is clear: to restore dignity, rebuild lives, and ensure that every citizen feels the impact of governance. Borno will rise again,” he declared.
